The food. Since I arrived to London -and some locals showed me this fantastic British classic-, I’ve tried different places in search of the perfect Sunday roast, and now I’m happy to say I finally found it. This beautiful gastropub in Angel serves the most amazing slow roasted pulled Windsor pork shoulder you can imagine. It was the whole package, so beautiful I don’t even know where to start. The meat, butchered and cured on site, was very tender and tasty. The roast potatoes, golden and crispy, as well as the lovely vegetables. And what can I say about that apple sauce and the massive Yorkshire pudding on top? That’s food that makes me happy, and there’s nothing that can beat that. Then, I went to heaven after I finished an incredible tasty sticky toffee pudding. The portions are quite generous and the presentation is neat and classic. And although the menu is mainly focused in meat, there are some vegetarian options too. You can also let them know in advance if you have any allergy or intolerance, and they will be extremely helpful. Wine and beer selection is excellent and pretty extensive.
The place. We went on a Sunday evening and it was very busy and a bit hot inside, but there was enough room between tables and the zone where we were seated was really nice and quiet. The wooden furniture gives the whole space a warmer look, creating a very relaxed atmosphere. A traditional and very enjoyable gastropub.
The service. One of those places where the service is even better that their gorgeous food. They literally took care of us, being incredibly nice and helpful. They made us feel like home and I couldn’t being more thankful for such a good experience. Absolute legends!
The value. Roasted pork, dessert and a very good bottle of wine to share for £30, including service, which is a pretty good price considering how much they care about their products and the quality of the whole experience. Would I come back? I would be there every Sunday.
